Fiber to the Room: A Cost Analysis

In mid-2018, a group of technology consultants, manufacturers and integrators joined together to conduct a network cabling and transport technology cost analysis. Led by Engineering Plus, CompAdvise, Corning, and Qypsys, the study focused on the three hotel sizes (125 room, 500 room, and 1000 room) that are most often quoted and built.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the cost of deploying a passive optical network in the hospitality setting and directly compare that with the cost to deploy a traditional active network. The information gathered primarily assists prospective hotel ownership groups, developers, and major hotel flag technology leaders.
